A Message from Governor Mark Taylor

“What a great opportunity for Florida Kiwanis!  We are the Host District for the Kiwanis International Convention, June 26-29, 2008.  We have the chance, not only to welcome visitors from around the world, but to showcase our District and your  outstanding club accomplishments.  Many people do not know that the Florida District includes our outstanding clubs in the Cayman Islands and the Turks and Caicos Islands.  We, in fact, are an International District in our own right.  Only a few Districts can claim that distinction.

There are two added benefits for each of us.  By volunteering for only one shift as a convention host, every member can save $75.00 on the registration fee.  We also have the opportunity to attend an International Convention without boarding an airplane. Many members will be able to commute to the convention. These are significant savings.  In a time of rising expenses, a convention in our own backyard is easy on our personal and club budgets.  The Florida Board of Trustees has established a goal of attendance from 20% of every club’s membership.

If you have never been to an International Convention, don’t miss this rare opportunity. You will get the chance to experience the truly international nature of our organization and to see how Kiwanians serve world wide.”
