ONE AND DONE
. I am a huge sports fan. Oftentimes, sports teams are in tournaments where they play one game, lose, and then they are done.

Kiwanis International President Dave Curry exhorted the District Governors
by reminding us that we only have one year to make an impact.  It’s not about my year or your year, his year or her year, but it is only ONE year. What will our legacy be?  As a leader, I will be one and done. If you are a leader in our organization, so will you. ONE AND DONE!!  The first month of Kiwanis is over.  Over eight percent of the year is gone. What did your club accomplish? Did you do something new and different or were you just treading water?  Don’t forget….You are going to be
ONE AND DONE
.

In this month’s message, I have only a couple of areas of accomplishment upon which I want to focus:

1. I want this to be the year when we prove we can make substantial growth in the Florida District.  All clubs are asked to have a special membership drive. I will be pushing you to tell me when you are going to hold yours. I need club members to take the initiative and grow your club. You can be an officer, but you do not have to be. I like the concept of the membership guest day or roundup because, if you conduct it correctly, you can be ONE AND DONE.  This single event will create enough new energy, new enthusiasm, and new ideas to carry your club for the year.  Let’s get it scheduled.

2. I want to continue our momentum in the Service Leadership Programs. These clubs and programs are the future of our organization. We are leading Kiwanis world in these areas. Let’s keep it up. Let’s build a K-Family Club in every school in the District.

Don’t forget ONE AND DONE. That’s where I’ll be in September, 2008. Come join me, but I am going to be in the winner’s bracket. How about you?
