December is a
favorite time of year for many. The holidays bring family together
and the focus is taken away from some of the stressful things of
this world. As Governor, I want you to take a look at your
priorities and make sure that you have them properly ordered. I
cannot speak for you, but for me, my faith, my wife, my children and
service to others are my top priorities. My business permits me to
provide for my family and to serve others, so I have to pay
attention to my profession.
As long as
Kiwanis is for serving others, I put it near the top of my priority
list. When Kiwanis becomes a burden and it is not part of service, I
find it drops down. You may feel the same way. Kiwanis is about
serving. Kiwanis is about giving. December is giving time. As the
holidays draw closer, take some time for yourself by serving others.
You will feel great and someone else will benefit.
Here’s a plug for
membership growth for this month. As you give or as you serve,
invite someone to join you. You do not have to invite someone to
go to a Kiwanis meeting. Why not invite them to work along side you
at the soup kitchen or at the children’s home? It is “giving
time.” It may not be “meeting time.” That can come later.
Invite them to help you deliver holiday baskets or toys to people
who are not so blessed. It is “giving time.” Take some time to
give.
