We’re so excited and just can’t hide it! Bob and I, and the members of the 2009-2010 leadership team, are looking forward to celebrating with you in a few short weeks, as we gather in Orlando for our district convention. It’s hard to believe that the Annual Florida District Convention is almost upon us.

George Langguth and the office staff have been working for months to make this convention an event to remember. If you haven’t already registered, please do so immediately. You can find all that you need to register on this web site, or you can contact the District Office at 407 324 9800. Remember that your Kiwanis Club has already paid the registration fee for three delegates to attend. There will be much important business conducted at the Delegate Session. It is essential that your voice and vote is heard on these matters.

As an educator and Kiwanian, I know the importance and need of good quality training so we can be the most effective officers and volunteers. Leadership development is one of the benefits of Kiwanis membership. Governor-Elect Tom Ramiccio and Education Chair Melanie Winternheimer have been working diligently planning a wide variety of workshops to meet the needs of all attendees. T he 2010-2011 District Chairs are been hard at work preparing displays for the Exhibit Area and perfecting their presentation skills.

Treasurer Eddie Lee and Carol Reynolds are busy putting the finishing touches on the Caring Corner. You know the importance of this endeavor which consistently raises thousands of dollars to help fund our Service Leadership Programs. Be sure you and your club are bringing lots of good, interesting items and goodies to sell.

Last month, Bob and I had the opportunity to preview the Renaissance Hotel, the location of our convention. From the moment we were greeted by the valet to our farewell breakfast, the stay was special. The accommodations are luxurious and the entire staff goes above and beyond to make the stay memorable. You may want to spend an extra day or two and visit Sea World, which is located across the parking lot. I know you won’t want to visit during any of the convention activities.

One of the best aspects of convention is to renew friendships. There will be plenty of opportunities to do this and to meet and make new friends. You will also have the opportunity to meet many of the members of our Service Leadership Programs.

As Governor, I have three themes: Celebrate Kiwanis and being a Kiwanian; Make a Difference every day; and have FUN being a Kiwanian. Bob and I look forward to seeing you at convention as we celebrate and have fun!
